Improved CSS for Drop-Down Menus
We’ve recoded the default version of the dropdown menu (inspired by: son of suckerfish) CSS we’re using in 2.0 so that you could actually use it in a site right out of the box. We’ve given it some new default CSS that handles things like text-wrapping within a drop-down menu item, and spanned pipes to evenly space the top row nav. This site is using the new default menu CSS so you can get a better idea of how it performs with the default styling.
Of course you can always replace the default menus and scrip with your own favorite flavor of menus, and if you don’t need drop-downs, YAML also has a couple of great solutions that might work for you too.
The default CSS that installs with eeSiteKit 2.0 has been tested in the following browsers:
PC: IE7, Google Chrome, FireFox, Opera and Safari
Mac: Safari, FireFox, Opera
Officially we do not support IE6 in eeSiteKit 2.0, but our initial testing showed that this navigation CSS worked in IE6 with the exception of the hover background not displaying for non-landing page top-level links. Depending on your site design this may not even be an issue for some sites.
